ENRICH in the USA & Angel launch
The European Commission's ENRICH in the USA initiative, started in April 2017, is establishing a Network of European Research and Innovation Centres and Hubs throughout the United States that acts as a central contact point for European research and innovation actors - clusters, universities, R&D labs/centers, researchers, start-ups, Small and Medium Enterprises (SMEs)... - seeking to grow and reinforce collaboration across the Atlantic. The mission of the Network is to provide standardized as well as tailor-made, research & innovation internationalization support services, activities end events to European researchers and innovators, to accelerate their exposure, collaboration opportunities, and overall access to partners, investors and clients in the US market, and maximize their chances of success.
The ENRICH in the USA Landing Hubs provide smart specialization support to EU research and innovation actors interested in transatlantic opportunities in a specific sector and/or technology domain. These Hubs, officially recognized by the ENRICH Network, are integrated with the local/regional ecosystem and are able to introduce EU R&I stakeholders into that ecosystem, so they can best take advantage of business (through Proofs of Concept and Pilots), as well as investment and other partnership opportunities.
Similar to the ENRICH in the USA Centers, the Hubs' core Ambassadors are university incubators and innovation centers offering soft landing programs and curriculums supported by ENRICH in the USA.
The ENRICH in the USA initiative is lead in the USA by Temple University SBDC - now its hqs.
The ENRICH in the USA West Coast Centre, was officially opened in January 2018 in San Francisco, CA. Its location at Runway Innovation Hub, 160 Spear St, CA 94105, has close proximity to the largest and oldest innovation and entrepreneurship ecosystem (SF Bay / Silicon Valley) in the heart of San Francisco, which is a valuable asset for any R&I actor from the EU seeking to establish a first presence in the United States.
Two universities are working closely with the SF Center on joint soft-landing programs with their innovation centers and the local SBDC network: University of California Berkeley and California Polytechnic University.
